Healthy High 5 T.R.U.E.
Cards...Life Lessons is a self-esteem tool developed by Heartwood
Institute, a Highmark Healthy High 5
signature partner, for teachers, parents, counselors, or anyone who
works with children. The objectives are to:
-
Stimulate conversations about character with children aged 8 to 13
-
Develop an ethical vocabulary which promotes the understanding of Courage,
Loyalty, Justice, Respect, Hope, Honesty and Love.
-
Raise children’s awareness of “folk wisdom” contained in sayings, proverbs,
and famous quotations
-
Help children apply these attributes to situations in their own lives.
T.R.U.E.
Cards...Life Lessons features 49 beautifully illustrated cards, detailed
instructions, an attribute poster, and a training DVD for using the Cards in
educational or home settings. Each Card references an universal character
attribute and two powerful proverbs, sayings or quotations. The discussion
questions on the back of each card spark conversations or prompt writing
projects. T.R.U.E.
Cards...Life Lessons have also been aligned to Pennsylvania's academic standards
in the areas of
reading,
writing, speaking and listening.
Free
samples of the T.R.U.E. Cards are available for download. All documents are PDF
